Physics is a basic discipline that studies the structure, interaction and movement of matters and their practical application. The main research directions in physics include theoretical physics, particle physics and nuclear physics, atomic and molecular physics, plasma physics, condensed matter physics, acoustics, optics, radio physics and computational physics. With the deepening of various research directions, many new branch disciplines have now been formed, such as nuclear energy and other renewable green new energy technologies, semiconductor electronic technologies, new material technologies, quantum computing and quantum communication, which have effectively promoted Production technology development and revolution. All in all, the research results of this discipline continue to lead to the invention and development of various high and new technologies.

The Discipline is of key discipline in Chongqing " Twelfth Five-Year Plan" , embracing a young and middle-aged academic team of provincial and ministerial titles that encompass Chongqing "Hundred Talents Program", "Sichuan-Chongqing Overseas Talents Inducing Program", Chongqing "High-End Foreign Experts Project", Chongqing Bayu Scholars, Chongqing Star Masters and others. In the past five years, has published more than 200 journal articles in SCI, including nearly 100 papers in the ESI / SCI-I/II (Web of Science sub-area); undertaken nearly 20 projects funded by the National Science Foundation of China, those key ones included and 2 Outstanding Youth Fund Projects in Chongqing Municipality. It has obtained 2 first prizes, 2 second prizes and 1 third prize respectively in Provincial/Ministerial Award For Scientific Research Achievements.
