On the afternoon of September 22, an online class-opening ceremony was held for the Undergraduate Double-degree Program of English Major in Cooperation with the Royal University of Technology Thailand. All the teachers and students of the project gathered online in CQUPT to participate in a unique “cloud” ceremony.
President Prof. Suwat Tanyaros, Asst. Prof. Dr. Yutana Pongpiriyadacha, and Dr. Nuchalee Thipmonta of Royal University of technology in Thailand, President Gao Xinbo, and principal leaders of School of Foreign Languages, International Office and other relevant institutes as well as Chinese and foreign teachers attended the opening ceremony.
On behalf of CQUPT, President Gao Xinbo first welcomed the program’s students who were far away in Thailand, and briefly introduced our university and the situation of the program to the students. He spoke highly of the significance of the program in innovating international cooperation mode, enriching the talent training mechanism of international students and creating international teachers. He said that CQUPT would integrate high-quality resources and spare no effort to provide complete and high-quality education and teaching services to the program’s students. Gao Xinbo hoped that the students could set up an aspiration, be diligent in learning, good at thinking, and brave in innovation, become the bridge of cultural exchange and the friendly envoys of person-to-person exchanges between China and Thailand, and contribute to the construction of a community of common destiny for mankind.
President Prof. Suwat Tanyaros of Royal University of Technology Thailand congratulated the smooth opening of the program. He pointed out that English-Chinese communication skills should play an increasingly important role in international exchanges. He hoped that Thai students could take advantage of the program to increase their knowledge, enhance their ability and cultivate their global competitiveness, and that they should make full use of the advantageous resources of the dual campus, further understand China, experience Chinese culture, and promote cultural exchanges and friendly cooperation between China and Thailand.
Heads from School of Foreign Languages of CQUPT and from School of Arts of Royal University of Technology Thailand respectively delivered speeches and shared the development mode and implementation plan of the program. The program’s teachers and student representatives spoke successively.
Finally, all the participants in the opening ceremony took a group photo online.
The program cooperated between CQUPT and Royal University of Technology Thailand is an important content for our university to further accelerate and expand the opening up of education, and it is also the first one that CQUPT and countries along Initiative Belt and Road have organized.
