Students of CQUPT Participate in China Engineering Robot Competition & International Tournament 2019 and Win 2 Grand Prizes and 9 First Prizes
Recently, China Engineering Robot Competition & International Tournament 2019, hosted by the Colleges and Universities Innovative Teaching Steering Committee under Ministry of Education, was held in Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province. More than 8,000 teachers and students of 1,726 teams from 301 universities participated in the competition, competing in 18 major sports including robot engineering cross-country, artificial intelligence, humanoid fighting, biomedicine, logistics and transportation, and bipedal racing.
Some schools of CQUPT, including School of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, School of Automation, School of Communication and Information Engineering, School of Computer Science and Technology and International School, sent a total of 49 teams to participate in the competition and finally won 2 grand prizes, 9 first prizes, 17 second prizes, 16 third prizes and 5 awards for successful participation. Of them, School of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering won 1 grand prize, 5 first prizes, 3 second prizes, and 7 third prizes; School of Automation won 1 grand prize, 4 first prizes, 12 second prizes, and 7 third prizes; School of Communication and Information Engineering won 1 second prize and 1 third prize; School of Computer Science and Technology won 1 third prize; International School won 1 second prize.
Yue Qiang from School of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, who was under the guidance of the teachers Xu Xiaodong and Bai Yin, won 1 grand prize in “Single Motor Race Step Race” in which 64 teams participated; Qiu Quanlong from School of Automation, who was instructed by the teachers Hu Xiangdong and Cai Jun, won 1 grand prize in “Bionic Climbing Project Four-legged Bionic Race” in which 37 teams participated.
Since the inception of the competition in 2011, the competition scale of our university has been expanding, and the quality and quantity of its awards gained have reached a new height. Each school insists on cultivating students with moral integrity, aiming at improving the quality of their training, and pays attention to developing the second classroom activities with innovation and entrepreneurship education and their professional laboratories as its main content, so as to fully explore their innovative consciousness and cultivate their innovative practical ability. Through the selection of all schools, 49 teams were sent to participate in the competition and all won prizes.
