Students of CQUPT Win the Champion of the “2017 VR Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition”

CQUPT News (provided by School of Communication, and edited by Ao Yongchun)On September 27th, 2018, the VR Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition 2017, which lasted more than a year, came to an end in the Fujian VR Experience Center and the Fuzhou (of Fujian Province) Haixi (Net Dragon) Capital of Animation Creativity. Pan Sijie, Xiong Lei, Tang Yi, Peng Danyang, Zhou Meilin and other 2016-year students of Digital Media Technology of School of Communication and Information Engineering, CQUPT, finished their work “Easy Scan”, which was awarded the highest award in education AR category—“The MostFuturisticEducation Product Award” along with a prize of 150,000 yuan due to its excellent performances in creative design of system, professional engine reference, system programming, augmented reality (AR) scenario realization, system fluency, market value, and product maturity and integrity.

A total of 9 world-class people served as judges of this competition, including Professor Zhou Mingquan, Director of the Virtual Reality Application Engineering Research Center of the Ministry of Education, Professor Eric Klopfer, Director of the Educational Game Department of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Vice President Cai Enquan of Microsoft Greater China, and renowned scholars, companies and investment institutions led by Liu Deijian, the Chairman of NetDragon Network and Associate Dean of the Smart Learning Institute with Beijing Normal University. Hosted by VR Industry Base and China Netdragon Network, the competition had attracted many famous VR companies and developers all over the world, and over 700 students from hundreds of universities inChinahad submitted entries since it was held on June 20, 2017. Chris Dede, a tenured professor of educational technology at Harvard University, also led his team. His policy framework for the assessment of educational technology implementation in theUSstates is widely applied throughout theUS, and he boasts insightful understanding of higher education and information technology of the US.
