Students of CQUPT Win Good Prizes in China Engineering Robot Competition and International Open

The 2017 China Engineering Robot Competition and International Open was held in China University of Mining and Technology from 27th to 30th in May. It was collectively held by Teaching Instruction Committee of Innovative Methodology of Higher Education Department of Ministry of Education, the Service Robot Professional Committee of the Productivity Promotion Center in the Ministry of Science and Technology, the China Artificial Intelligence Society of Cognitive Systems and Information Processing Professional Committee, the International Committee of Engineering Robotics, etc.

51 students from our university’s School of Automation and School of Advanced Manufacturing were sent to take part in such competitions as handling project, indoor aerial robots, biped heel-and-toe project, having got two first prizes, 5 second prizes, 10 third prizes and 3 winning prizes. The team named NO ERROR of School of Automation won the first prize of the photoelectric car race of the handling project, and the team South Mountain Drag Racing Brigade” won the first prize of the cross-foot match of the biped heel-and-toe project.

Adhering to the fundamental of establishing morality and cultivating people and the goal of improving the quality of talent training, School of Automation and School of Advanced Manufacturing attach great importance to extracurricular activities featuring innovation and entrepreneurship education and student professional laboratories so as to fully tap students’ innovative and practical abilities and equip them with scientific way of thinking. Only in this way can they apply their knowledge to practice.

There were over 5000 teachers and students of 1797 teams from 299 universities all over the country in the competition, and the number of universities, teams and participants were all the highest over the years.
