International Telecommunication Union Expert Conference and Symposium 2016 Are Held in Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications
CQUPT News (provided by School of Economics and Management, and edited by He Jiang)The International Telecommunications Union Expert Conference and Consumer Protection Symposium 2016 was held in November 9-20, 2016, hosted by the International Telecommunication Union Development Bureau and China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), and organized by Chongqing Communication Administration and Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications. Experts and representatives in the field of information and communication from China, Korea, Rwanda, Bangladesh, Belgium, Nigeria, etc., and enterprise representatives in the Internet and communication industry gathered in Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and carried out in-depth discussion and communication on the cutting-edge projects and the latest research results of fields of the consumer protection under digital collaboration, information consumption and international mobile roaming.
The opening ceremony of the symposium was held at the Academic Hall in Shaw Science & Technology Building on the morning of November 11, 2016. President & Professor Li Lin of CQUPT;Ms. SofieAlfonsKlara Maddens, Head of Regulatory and Market Environment Department of International Telecommunication Union; Dr. Chen Jinqiao, Deputy Chief Engineer of CAICT; Zhang Huan, Deputy Director of Information Development Division of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology; Ju Yan, Deputy Director of Chongqing Economy and Information Commission; Xu Hong, Deputy Director of Chongqing Communication Administration; Mr. BohYunSeo of Korea Institute of Communication and Information Science; Mrs. Venerande Mukamurera of the Bureau of Public Utilities of Rwanda; Mr. Zian Shah Kabir of System and Service Department of Bangladesh; Mr. Me. Moshiur Rahman of Administrative Authority of Bangladesh——they attended the opening ceremony.
The International Telecommunication Union Expert Conference and Consumer Protection Symposium is an international high-level academic conference initiated and supported by the International Telecommunication Union Development Bureau. It is one of the far-reaching international academic conferences in the field of telecommunication, and a significant annual event in the international telecommunication development. At the three-day conference, with the theme of "Consumer Rights Protection" under the digital collaboration, officials from international organizations (ITU-D), and officials, experts and representations of industry associations from various countries focused on the development condition of information and communication industry with the background of globalization, and carried out in-depth discussion on consumer information, consumer protection and consumer rights. They intended to plan and promote industrial innovation from a global perspective, and to further enhance the coherence of regional action in Asia-Pacific countries. The symposium, in line with the current trend of rapid development of the internet and increasingly prosperous information consumption, was designed to achieve mutual learning, to encourage countries to place more emphasis on protecting rights and interests of telecommunication consumers, and to step up the development of international telecommunication industry through expert keynote speeches, exchanges, discussions, field visits, as well as in-depth exchange and cooperation with experts and scholars from other countries and regions.
It was reported that the symposium also held five thematic salons and two topical researches, and experts and scholars at the symposium carried out dialogues on both the latest projects in the field of consumer protection and the latest research results.
