School of Communication and Information Engineering

With its longest history, largest scale and most intensive academic disciplines in Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, the School of Communication and Information Engineering now has key disciplines of information and communication engineering in Chongqing and state first level doctoral programs and master programs. Since its establishment 60 years ago, the School has pioneered research in the fields of digital communications and the third-generation mobile communications. It successfully developed China's first set of digital communications equipment and communication instruments, and designed the world's first TD-SCDMA baseband chip. Now the School has won 5 state-level Awards for Science and Technology. It now owns one College has one state-level characteristic major, one state-level comprehensive reform experimental major, one major listed in “the Plan for Educating and Training Outstanding Engineers", two state-level experimental teaching center, and two state-level educational practice bases; 7 Key laboratory and engineering centers of National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Education and a total of 7 state-level innovation team, provincial level innovation team and teaching team. Currently, it has a total enrollment of more than 2600 full-time undergraduate students and 1700 postgraduates working on the doctoral and master's degree. Now it has more than 230 teaching staff and part-time teachers, among whom there are the national "May 1" labor medalist, 4 national outstanding teachers, 6 state-level technology talents from expert team member of national key S&T Special Projects and The Recruitment Program of Global Experts, 15 municipal-level talents from the Program for New Century Excellent Talents and Chongqing Par-Eu Scholars Program. In addition, it also employs 6 academicians of China Engineering Academy and foreign academicians as part-time professors. In recent 5 years, the School has won 2 national teaching achievement awards and students have won 198 state and municipal level prizes in different science and technology competition for college students such as the "Challenge Cup", Digital-Analog and electronic design. The employment rate of the School has remained at more than 96%. Nearly 60% of graduates tend to pursue further education, go abroad or work in the world's top 500 enterprises and industry leading enterprises.
